Greetings, all! I don't officially start Book Club until next week (2/16) since I know most of you are still getting and reading your books. But, I thought I'd post a warm-up question for those of you already reading. Here goes!
On pages 3 to 5, Gottlieb posts her extensive shopping list of qualities from the Husband Store. Using Gottlieb's list, what three (and only three!) qualities would you select for your ideal husband, and why? And, select one quality NOT on Gottlieb's list that you would want in an ideal husband.
I'll post my answer in the comments. Now ... go! :-)

ReplyDeleteMy three from Gottlieb's list would be:
1. "Ambitious but not a workaholic", since gainful steady employment is important in a mate for me.
2. Good listener and communicator - You can have one without the other, but in the end, I think it takes both to make a successful partnership.
3. Grounded but not boring - goes a lot with #1, but a sense of spontaneity and adventure are really important too.
And my one not on Gottlieb's list:
Independent enough to manage his own life, but needy enough to know it's better when I'm in it!
"Optimistic but not naive" Crap happens...and its good to have a positive outlook to get through it... and the know how of how to get through it
ReplyDelete"Ambitious but not a workaholic" Since I don't want to be the only breadwinner in a family, we can both do what we love and together we'll be able to afford it!
"Good listener and communicator" If you don't hear what I want or need... and can't tell me the same in return, how can we be partners. (I totally wrote mine before I read yours!)
mine: wants the same/similar 'life things' I do (# of kids, size of house, kind of car, type # of pets) If he wants 0 and I want 3 we're not going to find a compromise.... if he wants to own a trendy loft, and I want to have a yard.... again hard to compromise!
